About This Spot

Stepping into Otahuku Nakabashi feels like slipping into a quiet corner of Kanazawa where time slows just enough to savor something truly comforting. Tucked subtly behind the hum of the main station, this udon noodle restaurant carries an unassuming warmth that invites you to settle in for a pause—a moment of calm and culinary delight away from bustling city rhythms.

The atmosphere here hums with gentle attentiveness rather than noise or rush. Soft light, friendly service, and a pace that encourages lingering all come together to create a space where locals and curious visitors alike can enjoy a genuinely heartfelt meal. It’s the kind of place where familiar, soothing flavors brim with the kind of care that feels like a quiet conversation between the kitchen and your table.

As bowls of thick, chewy udon arrive, layered with rich house-made dashi and accented by thoughtfully paired ingredients—perhaps tender chargrilled duck infused with a hint of yuzu or a delicate tempura crisped to light perfection—the meal unfolds as a deeply satisfying experience. Each dish seems to echo the region’s seasonality and attentiveness to detail, inviting you to discover Kanazawa’s culinary character through every slurp and bite.

There's a thoughtful rhythm to dining here, reflected in the ebb and flow of guests seeking a welcoming spot to unwind with a warmly spiced broth or a comfortingly familiar rice bowl. The genuine care behind each plate, coupled with the modest setting just steps from the train, reveals Otahuku Nakabashi as a quiet cornerstone for those who appreciate culinary traditions served without fuss but full of heart.

Hands down one of the best meals I've had in two trips to Japan. The duck was soft and perfectly chargrilled, lending the udon noodle soup a unique flavour. The yuzu pulp was the perfect addition and the small tempura I ordered alongside it was perfectly crispy. So lucky to have found this gem, which is tucked away behind the main station. Forget those pricy hotel teppanyaki bars, this is where the culinary magic happens! Arigato gozaimas

Quiet and friendly restaurant for a tasty bowl of warming udon. I had the udon with tempura and my husband had the katsu curry udon. My dish came with a generous portion of tempura (shrimp and mixed vegetables), the batter was light and udon broth was rich with bonito flavor. The katsu curry udon was topped with a delicious pork cutlet, curry sauce, with udon underneath it all and katsu sauce on the side. I would love to come back to this restaurant again

Such a comforting and satisfying meal on a rainy night! I had the duck udon noodle soup with a small tempura on the side, and they were absolutely delicious. Service was great and prices were reasonable. The restaurant is conveniently located near the JR station too. Highly recommended!

During our stay in Kanazawa we came here for dinner twice. The service is incredible and all dishes we tried were great. The broth of the udon with beef is the best tasting broth I’ve ever had!

A traditional Japanese restaurant serving Udon, rice, Soba. The waitress is very kind , and we have a good lunch. The menu is not for foreigners, but you can use the google translator camera to shot the menu to order.

Decent restaurant serving regular Japanese food. The duck noodle soup dish has a nice Smokey flavour.

Went to this restaurant 2 weeks ago. Really enjoyed the katsu curry and udon. The staff there were some of the friendliest people I met in all of Japan. Hit the spot after a long day of travel :)
